Who's your ISP?
My ISP is Virgin Media and IPVanish works fine for me although they do say themselves it's not very good with a 1st generation firestick. I haven't had problems though. Worth giving it a try Tone it costs $10 for 1 month (I think) and then you can buy it at a greatly reduced rate (for 1 or 2 years) if it works well for you.

IRONS TV was faultless all afternoon. Very clear and almost no buffering. The audio was slightly less harmonious when David O'Leary interrupted but that can't be avoided...
I'm also on virgin media and I used TV Tap and watched the game on Bein sport 11 no VPN , Also had it playing on a IPTV site on my Samsung galaxy tab and again no VPN nor any problems . Never paid for a stream nor a vpn .

I've heard a few people say Irons TV is decent. Might give it a try next week. I've downloaded Firefox onto my Firestick so if it works I'll be able to watch it on the tv screen.
