I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Austria going into lockdown for the unjabbed.
No. The guy at RV who sold me my ticket told me that there has been a double vaccination requirement to enter the stadium for a while now. In fact the city of Vienna are likely to require a PCR test as of next week as well.
I dont know what the disturbances were as I was in the main stand but I heard there was a bit of fighting in the home end and a friend of mine had to take her son into the corporate boxes as it got a bit feisty in the away end but I didnt see anything particularly bad. I dont understand this obsession with setting off flares though. I know other clubs do it but it is disgusting to breathe in to be honest. I remember someone setting one off at Spurs in the stand after Vaz Te scored in the game when Ravel Morrison scored that solo goal. I could barely breathe as it was pretty close to where I was.
I was in the away end. Nothing. Great atmosphere
Home end had some locals (Belgians) who came for a scrap wearing half and half scarves and singing West Ham songs. They got kicked out and joined us.

On the face of it some may think it's not fair but, all things considered, it is hard to argue that this is not a good thing.
Tell that to the thousands that have already made travel and hotel arrangements that will undoubtedly still go rather than kiss goodbye to 500/1000 smackeroos.

That depends if you are a West Ham fan
Actions will always have consequences no matter who you support.
This decision is a 50% of West Ham supporters like and 50% don't like.
Reputation of the club image long term is more important than short term pleasure for some, particularly with potential sales in the pipeline.

There's idiots that follow every football club. Just ask the black fella who the Chelsea scum kicked off a train.
