It begs the question. Now that the Taliban are legit. And fighting ISIS. But still full of poppys.

How would we view them if they bought us and delivered the title. What's a few beheadings between friends.

Human nature I suppose.
The Taliban or David Sullivan would be a difficult decision
Both wear silly hats

palerider wrote: Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:59 am Several pieces in the papers today about the takeover, the best imo from our old mate Oliver (I hate West Ham) Holt. Who's a smarmy cunt, but his missive in the Mail on Sunday is spot on. Detailing the attrocities that the Saudi government has carried out. And BJ lets us sell arms to them ffs. And to those who say the investment outfit who bought them have nothing to do with the Saudi government, open the curtains to see the flying elephants.

At least Alan Shearer has urged Toon fans not to be blind about what's going on in Saudi. But once the wins start arriving let's see how smug he'll be in the MOTD studio.

And there's a piece too about the pathetic virtue signalling that pervades our national game from race issues to gay rights. Yet not one of the potential commentators from the BBC or ITV, who have the TV rights, have spoken out against Qatar, with their apalling human rights records, and if they'll boycott going. Did Qatar buy the World Cup and bribe the likes of Blatter and Platini ?

Do bears shit in the woods ?

But Saint Gary Lineker earns 1.9m a year from the Beeb. Gary Neville, Gaby Logan. Graeme Souness and Alex Scott have all also issued a firm 'no comment' on their attendance in the desert next winter.

The FA, the PL and FIFA just love money and lots of it. Whoever provides it is welcomed with open arms. Irrespective of their history. It's making David Sullivan look like a bona fide fit and proper person.

It's a shame Fred West croaked. He could easily have had a construction empire worth millions now. For all of his minor misdemeanors I'm told he was actually a decent builder.
Is it worth worrying about Saudia Arabia ethics when the economic motivations are the things that bind us together. If new investment arrives in the north east and this raises environment standards with regeneration projects then some lives will be improved. So for some people it's a good thing.

Worrying where the source of that money originated, is like turning down a bank loan because that money grew from Mexican drug cartel deposits.

Being sniffy and pious makes no sense. Take the blood money and turn it into clean living is what I say.

However it's horses for courses, so regards Qatar hosting world cups, nah, naff idea. Take their dough (always) but don't hold prestigious events in primitive countries. That makes everyone look feeble minded.
I think we can also wonder if the people wringing their hands and bleating on about human rights abuses have ever watched a Disney movie, booked an Uber, or regularly use Facebook and What's App.

What's that got to do with Newcastle you may ask. Well, the Saudi public investment fund has significant investments in all those companies, and no doubt many hundreds more.

And Amnesty wants meeting with Premier League over Newcastle takeover. The Charity wants ownership rules to be ‘human rights-compliant’

Right. Good idea - in principal. There is suspicion that the Saudi state might be taking over at Newcastle and not the Investment fund because the financial 'separation' between the two does not look sufficiently, well separated.

A foreign state might actually be taking over a football club with all the sinister connotations that excitable minds manifest. And you have to watch that because it could lead anywhere - Newcastle kits freely available in all supermarkets just for starters. What happens if they paint Saudia (national airline) in black and white stripes. Just think of that. Flying zebras in out midst.

And if that type of thing goes unchallenged then before anyone can say 'fit and proper' then everybody will pile in. Imagine if all our public utilities were suddenly foreign owned, even our water purification and sewage. Christ, give an inch and they take...

The best thing is to relegate the sods,Newcastle not Amnesty - but that's not going to happen. We are past the point of inquiring, who are your relations and what do they do. It could be the very end of all life in the north-east...or maybe just a football manager...

A hastily arranged meeting occurred yesterday between the PL and the 19 other clubs in which the PL explained they had no choice but to approve the takeover. Apparently Manure, Everton and the hook-nosed filth were the most concerned as they felt their CL chances had been diminished.

And the PL also assured them that they still have the power to veto the takeover even at this late stage should any trace be found of Saudi government involvement.

In the coming weeks they'll be in a log cabin in the wilderness with no phone or wifi with fingers in their ears saying 'I can't hear you'.

They should have brought us.

If they wanted a club to attract the best players, then London is the perfect place for that. It's not just the players,it's their wives too.Great to shop and easy access to catch a plane anywhere in the world.

We are in the heart of London and attract 60,000 punters now, imagine if we had a bit of success?.

These lot have a bottomless pit,but chose the wrong location...BIG MISTAKE

Ashley wanted to sell. The dwarf doesn't want to sell. No brainer. You can't buy something if the owner doesn't want to sell.

And then there's the fact that Chelsea, twice CL winners, not to mention Spurs & Arsenal, are all seen as bigger fish in the London pond.

Exactly.

Why spend time haggling for a club who’s owners don’t want to sell , especially when said owners probably have overpriced it by at least double .

When you can pick up a club for half that , probably has more true fans in attendance every week and is a proper blank canvassed project crying out for investment.

It is most likely his last at Newcastle, but congratulations to Steve Bruce on his thousandth game as a manager. That’s not easy, and he won more than he lost.
