And they work so hard for it and everybody recognises each others worth. That's what I most admire with Guardiola. When he is pleased with his team he describes their performance as excellent; when he sees that the intensity is not at it's optimum he says 'we were good in phases'

Liverpool had that two years ago but it's hard work to maintain and some of their players felt they didn't need to run themselves into the ground continuosly. Let somebody else do the crud work. They still have very capable fullbacks and Mo Salah keeps his excellent standards every season but with a drop off effort from some of the significant others and a suspect expensive goalkeeper, they are a yesterday team. Still better than Tottenham and Arsenal but behind Leicester and Chelsea in quality and imagination.

If David Moyes wants to continue with a False-9 formation he needs to fully understand how the other components need to integrate. And that level of
tactical comprehension might be too deep.
It is what Mourinho and Klopp have failed to do that Guardiola can do.....keep that intense pressing up over more than a couple of seasons.. Mourinho's teams normally implode after a couple of years and Klopp's have run out of steam.

What's interesting with Klopp, is the pattern of high performance and then a loss of intensity happened during his tenure at Dortmund. One of the intrigues when he joined Liverpool was could the gegenpress be sustained over several seasons with the same group of players. And Liverpool's style of very fast counter-attacks adds to the energy depletion.

Man City's more possession based conservation of resources probably allows quicker recharge of energy between games and Pep uses rotation with tactical efficiency.

Klopp tends to overuse all his core elements until they start to physically wilt. He is very successful doing it but it comes with a longer term price.

Not sure about the comparison with his time at Dortmund tbh. Bayern nicked Hummel after their first title win and then took Lewandowski after the second. Difficult for anyone to compete in Germany when one club is so much stronger financially than the rest.

On the biggest stage of all,2 English youngsters standing out.Let`s hope that Southgate plays to our strengths and not play 2 holding midfielders. We don't need to fear anyone. We have one of the best strikers in world football,we should be optimistic about our chances in the Euros and World Cup.
I agree Tel but I think it’s a bit soon to be labelling Ollie Watkins as “one of the best strikers in world football “
We've got too many comedians on here already Tim.We don't need anymore thanks ;)

Watching the Palace v City match. Unfortunately it’s the other City that have turned up today, not the one that played in Paris

A caller into Talksport has suggested that Christian Benteke is as immobile as an immobile thing, citing levels of West Ham's Haller as the bench mark.

Hang on, I'm not having that comparison. There is a big difference between not being focused and simply not giving a shit. And just to show that Talksport don't let just any old numpty spout off - they go to an ad break.

Their 2nd goal today was the 700th under Pep. And the lowest we can now finish is 13th.

That's good to know. David Moyes will be relaxed now and start playing our under used fringe players. Winning is what he does...
