We have spoke on this subject on similar lines before.
If they match the the finances that the men's game generate from commercialism and stadium fill, then YES.
The US Women's Team may just do that, but the rest of the world don`t generate even 5% of what the men's game does,so how can they?
The logic doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. We might agree that players of both sexes deserve the same appearance fee but we would probably not agree that both sexes should receive the same performance rewards.
...because they are different and market led. And although the market might be all LGBTQ+ friendly when it
sniffs $$$$,it's not blind and can tell the difference between those wearing skirts and those that don't...
If you look at their successes compared to the mens team then yes. I don't know what the viewing figures are but womens socccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr is a big deal here.
Purely a guess but I reckon the average game might be viewed as much as the average US mens teams game.
But the mens World Cup eclipses the womens although the latter is on prime time telly & has a lot watching.
Comparing it to boxing. A very good Flyweight champion is not going to earn as much as a fringe world fighter at Heavyweight. Just supply & demand.
If you talking about just for your country then yes.
The American women’s game is just as big as the men’s game as I understand it therefore should be equal. However if you talking about the game here then no way.
Always annoys me that in tennis the pay is the same for the grand slams yet men have to play more sets, women should play 5 sets too.
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.
They have a collective bargaining agreement that they negotiated and approved.
It has been said that they rejected some of the terms that are in the men's agreement and actually received more per game played. Now that is presumably because they won more so received bonuses etc.
That being said, if you are free to negotiate the terms of you contract and had all the relevant information to hand (which I do not know), can you argue that the said terms are unfair?
It us interesting to see that the average attendance for the Women's national team was higher than the Men's in 2019.
One thing that does appear clear is that it is unfair for the women to fly coach when the men fly business class, especially when you consider that the women's is far more successful.
Some do I suppose. Like the ones that are more manly than some men. But on that basis then some men deserve a pay cut for playing like big girls. But you're not allowed to talk about it like that anymore are you.
Just like my dreams they fade and die.
But on the positive side..............
