I think he's already a very good young player. And he's a proper striker which, if he joined, would enable us to use Antonio more as a kind of impact sub when needed.
I went to school and later drank in the Swan at Stratford Broadway with Albert Ellis. I know he went to the Frankfurt game and is probably aST holder but he's nearly 66. Fuck knows where Moyes will play him. Got a feeling Dwaynepipes might know him as well.Pipe smurf wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 5:26 pm West Ham join the race to sign Alberth Elis - report
West Ham have joined the race to sign Honduras international Alberth Elis, according to a report from Diario Diez.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan to Bordeaux from Portuguese side Boavista.
He has scored nine goals in 21 appearances this season for the Ligue 1 side. Apart from the Hammers, VfL Wolfsburg, Rayo Vallecano and Fiorentina are also interested.
Elis is one of the Bordeaux players who are not willing to continue at the club next season. It means, Bordeaux will struggle to sign him permanently in the summer.
In any case, the French club are struggling badly in the summer, and they find themselves at the bottom of the table.
The attacker is likely to return to the Portuguese club in the summer, but he is likely to be shipped out again.
He has several options to pick his next destination and could find it hard to resist if the Hammers come up with an option.
The French club are keen to secure a permanent move for him, but the player is unwilling to do so.
West Ham will need to bolster their department in the summer. It is their primary concern. Michail Antonio has served as their lone striker throughout the campaign, and another season without an additional striker will be a catastrophe.
At the same time, the club need to add players in attacking midfield areas as well. The likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini or Said Benrahma could be shipped out to make room for new faces.
If the Hammers are planning to sign Elis at a bargain price, and use him as a squad player, then it probably makes sense, but there are better options elsewhere.
