The alleged suspect was the ringleader of a gang who stole jewellery from Central and West London about 12 years ago. He employed kids to do the dirty work and violence was often involved. He got a 12 year sentence. Obviously nobody actually serves full time nowadays.

So it seems that if it is the same man, and the photos look remarkably similar, jewellery theft would in fact be a noble art.

He'll be the lowest of the low in the hierarchy of prisoners. On a par with nonces. He'll have to go into segregation. If he were on normal location he would literally have the shit beaten out of him.

Sadly much has changed during the 17 years since I last worked as a screw. 'Accidents' used to happen in the seg. Those metal stairs leading down from the food serving area back to the cells can get very slippery.
