James Anderson.

Post by Neville Bartos »

Being described as 'England's greatest of all time'.
I swear people are deluded. Yes, nearly 600 test wickets is a hell of a feat, but since when has quantity been the sole measure of greatness?
Anderson is great in England, but his bowling away from home is bang ordinary.
His average shoots up from just over 23 at home to 32 away. And his strike rate goes from 50 to 66.
Compare that to Bob Willis. Like Anderson Willis was excellent in home conditions, his average of 23.5 and strike rate of 46 are very similar. The difference was, that although weaker away from home Willis was still a lot more effective than Anderson, 27avg/Sr62.

If I'm picking my all time England XI to tour Australia Jimmy Anderson ain't in it. And to me that's decidedly not the mark of the 'greatest of all time' .

FYI my quicks would be Larwood, Tyson, John Snow and Trueman.
Communism deprives no man of the power to appropriate the products of society; all that it does is to deprive him of the power to subjugate the labour of others by means of such appropriations.
