One of the most distinctive voices on tv..Boys From the Black Stuff had to be one of the most powerful,but at the same time,one of the funniest.I'd have ever seen.A programme,I will never forget.All about the true life of Liverpool in the early 1980's...I remember him also has Lucien in The Liver Birds and the Narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine,which my son adored..RIP Micheal.
Excellent series the Blackstuff,gritty ,funny,sad it had it all Some great characters.
Seem to remember Julie Walters played his wife in it
