Time to pull the plug on Wor Sicknote

Post by Porterman »

Sorry guys and gals but Ive reached the end of my hope/sympathy/belief that he can contribute ANYTHING MEANINGFUL in our colours!!!

Every time he looks like "hes almost there" .....WOOSH....down the shitter it goes again!!

Lets be honest.

6 weeks out now is virtually a sign hanging round his (no doubt injured) neck " Sorry but I wont be contributing to your cause again this season"!!!

Lets look at it from any other "employment angle".

Those that are very lucky get covered by their company/organisation for maybe full pay for 6 months (then generally reduced) whilst those not so fortunate have to struggle along on Government fare!!!

Then the next step is if your not getting ove rsaid hurdles you would attend Occupational Health(or DRS) regarding long term situations.

IF YOU ARE DEEMED NOT FIT THEN BIG DECISIONS GET MADE (by you and others).

The bottom line is THIS GUY IS NEVER GOING TO PUT 20 GAMES TOGETHER (and maybe not even double figures) in the future!!!

SURELY that entitles us as a club to "pension him off" with some insurance kicking in ( surely clubs have such a thing)!!

Not saying for a minute its his fault hes injured BUT he has a responsibilty to be available for his employer.....or do summit about it.....ie RETIRE!!!!!

Yes mate, always stuck by him, seeing his potential, but maybe we will be waiting for it when he's 35 at this
rate.
But I still think he is the best guy you can have on the bench, when you're struggling to break a side down.
I would still keep him for that reason.
Financially he has no resale value now, certainly under 10mill.
Trouble these days is the wages allowances, dictating on the squad you can have.
And he is one of our high earners.

It really is getting to be a bit of a joke now,I think we would be having an unfair dismissal case
in front of us now in any other walk of life.

No offence Port , and your not wrong here , but this time last week everybody was raving about what a great striker he is now that he's fully fit again etc and now this .

There will be calls to get rid even though it's doubtful anybody would want to buy him and then , when he's fit again the club will be saying how he's like a new signing blah blah blah ....

A perpetual circle mate , and with Gold tweeting yesterday that there is no such insurance , it would appear we are stuck with him.
Personally I think our football style improves when he's injured , and I think Calleri and probably Sakho will benefit from not having him around .
Bony a waste of time and money imo
Bring back Jonathon !

Absolutely no offence taken mate and thanks for clearing up the 2is there such things as insurance" in these matters.

Im afraid I wasnt one of the " oh heres our saviour coming" for 2 reasons.

1) You almost" feel in your water" the next injury is just around the corner (and no hellish far round it)!!
2) Even if he was "fully fit" and played say 15 games in a row I genuinely wouldnt expect more than 2/3 goals from him and to be honest I think that wishful thinking!!!

Have you studied him as games go on.....hes ALMOST GUARANTEED to be spending more time in his own box.

You could argue "he sback helping out defending".

I would venture "if he was fit and great at holding the ball up and doing what hes supposed to be doing" there would be a lot less need for him (and us) to be on the back foot so much!!!

Guess hes going to "divide opinion" and I truly believe he wants to play football....BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS HE CANNOT GET HIMSELF INTO A FIT ENOUGH CONDITION AND MAINTAIN IT!!!

As for "impact sub" etc Im sorry....but if im paying somebody what hes almost certainly getting paid I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO PLAY 90 MINS OF EVERY GAME!!!!

I can understand people's annoyance at having him at West Ham and I agree 100%, he's a fucking liability. But if reports are true, whereby he picked up the injury playing at Astra, then for me the blame lies firmly at Slavs door. I'm not saying Slav should treat him with kid gloves and if he's fit Slav has every right to play him, but he brought him along when we had Fletcher and Martinez chomping at the bit to get a game! Calleri did OK but looked knackered so why the need to bring on sicknote to replace him was a mistake in my eyes when we had two able blokes doing fuck all to see out the match, had they been given the chance to travel with the squad, then they should have taken part at some stage. The pitch looked shite and we were asking for trouble I'm afraid given his track record. I'm not defending the lanky gobshite and would prefer him gone but if we buy the likes of Fletcher and Martinez then ffs give them a go and leave Carroll at home for The Bournemouth match.
Love a cup of Rosey I do.

Blame lies with the manager here. Why was he in Romania? Everyone knew he could not manage 3 games in 7 days, should never have been on that plane. Then taking him on when 1 up, why? We also changed tactics so it didn't even suit him anyway.

Really like him but after a summer of carefully minding him, getting him fit, our manager threw that out the window in Romania. Big fan of Slav but Sam got abuse for doing a similar thing with Carroll against Southampton which seen him get a lengthy lay off.

It's '4-6 weeks' that means he will be back very shortly after international break so he will only miss a couple league games at most plus Astra. Not the biggest crisis.

I agree with the first point you make regarding feeling the next injury is just around the corner but I disagree with almost every other point here.

Firstly, I dont think it is because he cant get in a fit condition....these are impact injuries. The issue is his build means he will always get them however fit he is...a la Dean Ashton.

Secondly, I dont believe that we would only get 2/3 goals out of him if he played 15 games in a row. For me, when he has a number of games under his belt, he is a decent player as proven when he got that hat trick v Arsenal last season and the two v Juve this.

I also dont think it changes our style when he doesnt play....for me that is a huge myth. Yesterday, we played no different with the 5ft8 Valencia in the team and once Tore realised that he should actually beat the first man, there is no way that Valencia was ever going to connect with the crosses, nor from Masuaku or Byram who put in some decent crosses. I truly believe we would have been leading at half time if Carroll was playing at the start of yesterdays game.

However, the injuries are what they are but there is little we can do about it so its best to use him as and when we can. I thought he was the only decent player v Chelsea as it goes.....but like you say, it divides opinions.

Do get your point Porter, and do agree, but it seems the way football is now,the Cheatskis, payout
£30mill for a player on prob more money than AC,and he will prob be a benchwarmer.
It's all gone mad.................

So how would you propose to change "his build"?!

Chop 6 inches of his legs? Put 2 stone on/lose 2 stone?!

Fuck me mate surely they are getting the best of advice in this department?!

All you here about is sports science this, fitness specialist that and on and on!!

I dont recall David Cross,John Hartson etc playing 1 game in 20 for us and they were all big physical guys!!!

Take your point re Ashton but wasnt his "a 1 off injury" that he simply couldnt recover from?!

I guess the "how many goals would he score" is always conjecture.

You point out some good results regarding him.

But "overall"?!

You could always say "but if he was fit and playing"....but surely thats the whole point?!!
