Brighton v West Ham - Official Match Thread

Post by Taansend »

West Ham have only ever beaten Brighton ONCE in top flight football.

Once..

March 5th 1983. Goals from Tony Cottee & Alan Dickens completed a 2-1 comeback win in front of 16,850 fans at Upton Park.

Our total record against Brighton is 18 wins, 17 losses & 14 draws.

We played them 16 times between 1903 & 1914, then twice in 1923, twice in 1933 & then had a gap of forty five years before meeting them again in 1978.

They spanked us twice last season, winning 3 nil at our ground (on a Friday in October :( ) in one of the worst performances I can remember seeing us in recent years, then 3-1 at their place in February.

They ended up 15th last season, two points & two places below us. They're also 15th at the moment, just below us, with five points and their only win was a 3-2 thriller at home to Man Utd.

They've won one, lost one & drawn one at The Amex and all three away teams scored two goals each. So as long as we only let in one goal we're definite winners :D

I can't see Pellegrini changing the team at all so.....

Flappyhandski
Zab Doowop General Masuaku
Noble Rice Obiang
Yarm Arnie Anderson

I was sure we were going to beat Chelsea & pretty certain we were going to draw with Man Utd so I'm saying nowt about this game, other than to say I don't think I'll be unhappy with the result.

On a side note I recently bought some jeans at Primark in Brighton. They're really fucking tight on the legs & loose around the waist. The material seems stretchy too. Fucking weird.

Win at Everton, draw with Chelsea beat Manure, Euphoria, lose to Brighton.

It`s the West Ham way.

Not really, easy win clean sheet.

This will be more of a test for me than the other games.
Brighton are big strong direct and physical, let’s see how our new boys to the premier cope with that.

Draw for me.
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.

I voted draw mate and that won't be a bad result either. . . . . we're starting to look like a team.

The same team again will be really good following his early season tinkering while he found his best 11.

A very winnable game but it will need Diop and Anderson to start showing form close to their transfer fees.
We may edge posession and the opening goal may be decisive.
