Back to the FA Cup daunting 4th round at Wigan, worst place to play for and our squad is very thin now, no thanks to the clowns who spend time getting on a cheap rather than concentrating the squad to get better.
Hope we do better than we did against the Shrews but Wigan is far superior than Shrews and it will be equally tough as Bournemouth were knocked out. Hope not to get a replay.
Squads
Hart
Collins
Burke
Ogbonna
Byram
Masuaku
Rice
Noble or Cullen
Obiang or Kouyate
TBH I'd like to see more youth play as we play Palace on the Tuesday and first team players are going to be at a premium, I hate to say it but as things stand the cup has to be secondary as anymore injuries and we're deep in it,plus the fact I don't trust the board to fill the gaps, also they have really given him a deal that makes it low on Moyes priority list. Excellent intro Ibbs and you certainly know how to heighten the anticipatory juices. I imagine David Moyes will give this fixture all the respect he believes games like this deserve. So we are all in for one of those interesting West Ham afternoons that people fondly talk about afterwards...
I wouldnt say Wigan are FAR superior than the Shrews. Yes, they are top of League 1, but only 5 pts ahead of Shrews who when we played then were 2nd and are now only 3rd on inferior GD. The big difference, and the clue is in the GD, is that Shrews dont score many compared to those around them (F35 A20 GD +16) whereas Wigan dont concede many (F53 A13 GD+40) but are free scoring.
So I cant confess to have watched Wigan, but it would seem they will be a more attacking threat than the Shrews were, but maybe that would better suit our counter attacking game. Except we dont have the players for it anymore...
So our defense will be prettified because Will Griggs is on fire
Cress is confirmed injured right?
Agree with your line up but would start Nobes & Cullen at the expense of Obiang/Cheik
With Fonte and Antonio very close to coming back, I would hope that either or both could play a sub role in this game or spell some on Tuesday that have to play both. Also not sure when Joao gets into the mix so add depth in midfield, but you'd think Tues not Sat. Seeing as there is no way on God's green Earth Kouyate and Obiang can ever be in the same dm I would have this lineup
Hart
Oxford
Collins
Ogbog
Byram
Kouyate
Rice
Ayew
Masuaku
Chico
Martinez
Save Noble & Obiang for the derby on tues and rest Zabs & Cresswell.
Well we know Arnie wouldn't start if he were fit so there's one free space, Lanzini a possible so who would take his role. Harts a definite starter.
In Moyes and Sullivans eyes this cup holds little priority at the present and TBH the way the league positions have been over the last few seasons I feel it will often, if not forever, be the case. Too much riding on PL survival or CL qualification. This cup is fast going the way of the " league cup ".
Hart
Collins
Rice
Oggy
Byram
Masuaku
Kouyate
Noble
Obiang
Martinez
Chico.
Would be surprised if Oxford plays if he's off to pastures new.
