Forget about the 'freeing-up' of wages bit. A signing of the likes of Batty-boy would eat up that. Benteke would want what we pay Payet but I'd still go for him. And Tore would be on 100k a week. It's what clubs have to pay these days sadly. I don't know how any survive on only 50k, poor lambs. They obviously use food banks.
But. And working on certain assumptions. Valencia to go to China for about 10m. Sakho to leave (I'll come to that in a minute). And we tell United and City Ogbonna is not for sale at any price.
Benteke. 25m
Tore.15m
Berahinho. 10m (Balance after Sakho goes to the Baggies)
Braithwaite 5m
Feghouli. Free
That's 55m in total which I reckon won't be too far away from the mark.
I've said all along we don't need another right back. We have Sam Byram, Tomkins has played there on occasion and looked fine. But more importantly, Bilic seems convinced Antonio is a right back. I don't agree but I'm not the manager, So I can't see the logic of adding a right back as a priority.
Players of relegated clubs have been touted. But as always there's the old saying. If they were that good, why did their clubs go down ? That rings true with all of the Newcastle players. Sissoko went missing for half a season. Janmaat is good going forward but very average defensively. Townsend blows hot and cold.
IF I were to pick anyone it would be Redmond but he wants to go back to the midlands and is best mates with the Stoke keeper Jack Butland. An outside bet, if we can't do a deal with Berahinho, it goes against my point but I'd not be averse to Jordan Ayew who stood out in a truly awful Villa side.
