The left back Mark Cucurella is admired by the club along with quite a few other at Brighton

But the club feel it would be too expensive and aim to do at least as good job in finding good talent on the continent as Brighton have been doing

West Ham join the race to sign Alberth Elis - report

West Ham have joined the race to sign Honduras international Alberth Elis, according to a report from Diario Diez.

The 26-year-old is currently on loan to Bordeaux from Portuguese side Boavista.

He has scored nine goals in 21 appearances this season for the Ligue 1 side. Apart from the Hammers, VfL Wolfsburg, Rayo Vallecano and Fiorentina are also interested.

Elis is one of the Bordeaux players who are not willing to continue at the club next season. It means, Bordeaux will struggle to sign him permanently in the summer.

In any case, the French club are struggling badly in the summer, and they find themselves at the bottom of the table.

The attacker is likely to return to the Portuguese club in the summer, but he is likely to be shipped out again.

He has several options to pick his next destination and could find it hard to resist if the Hammers come up with an option.

The French club are keen to secure a permanent move for him, but the player is unwilling to do so.

West Ham will need to bolster their department in the summer. It is their primary concern. Michail Antonio has served as their lone striker throughout the campaign, and another season without an additional striker will be a catastrophe.

At the same time, the club need to add players in attacking midfield areas as well. The likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini or Said Benrahma could be shipped out to make room for new faces.

If the Hammers are planning to sign Elis at a bargain price, and use him as a squad player, then it probably makes sense, but there are better options elsewhere.

From memory, our previous forays in to the Turkish league haven't exactly paid dividends. Emenike, Tore and even Nasri - who to be fair had no club when we signed him, but had been playing for Antalyspor, all failed spectacularly.

There's a reason players play in the Turkish Super Lig and that reason is that they're simply not very fucking good. Your comment about Kim establishing himself as one of the best in the Turkish League is akin to Chey Dunkley establishing himself as one of the best CBs in League 1 after signing from Wigan - and I wouldn't want us to sign him either.
The kid is only 22 years old and is gonna be a star, you'll see
He's 26 in November, so he'd better hurry up.
Who the fuck is General Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?

Are you playing an older version of Football Manager?
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.
