Premier League rules clearly state that permission is needed to join any competition outside those already agreed upon.

So to join this league without permission, the 'Big 6' would be ejected missing out on the Sky and BT money.

And all the indications so far are that the PL will do just that, such is the anger.

But FIFA and it's glorious history of being whiter than white has only issued a bland statement, well after the all the others, not really condemning the plans, merely saying they 'disapproved' of them. It's chairman Gianni Infantino has said nothing.

The riches involved blow Sky and BT out of the water. And Joel Glazer has said it will benefit the whole of football.

So really, what that means as far as I can see is that regular handouts to the PL and the FA would sweeten the deal. For the PL to just back down and agree would prove they're as motivated by disgusting greed as much as the clubs involved as well.

Can't understand why everyone's getting so steamed up about this tbh. Imo there is no way TV money will go flooding into a league where there is no promotion or relegation. Manchester United v Liverpool and Real Madrid v Barcelona are massive games in the domestic calendars and attract millions of viewers worldwide.

Why? Because usually the result of that game matters big time to where the season's league trophy is going to end up. But who would give a monkeys if Man United were playing Liverpool for the privilege of finishing 7th. Or if Real and Barcelona were battling it out at the foot of the table but the loser was in no danger of getting relegated? People will pay to watch relevant matches. Not games with all the incentive of a testimonial.

Simply can't see it happening.

Apparently a survey of 18-34 year old fans showed that 48% were for it. That may have given the greedy 12 some hope.....future fans etc after all of us old buggers pop our clogs.

But it's a cynical ploy on the eve of a revamped CL announcement which in itself was controversial, to get even more money. And is a bargaining chip. Ok, we'll back down but give us more.

Well, there can be no chance of that. If the FA, PL back down they'll just keep on knocking like some shady protection racket.

As for FIFA. World Cup in Qatar not about money ?

The sooner the big 6 f*ck off from the Premier League, the better for all other clubs.

Never like ANY big 6 teams - greedy, bully and selfish that destroyed all other clubs for fun.

If those 6 clubs are kicked out of Premier League, would that mean blunt club is back? Hope not!

If they get threatened with expulsion you may see a u turn again but if not then fuck them off and leave sport to clubs that actually want fans watching live.
