The Premier League have released a statement.

If we had just loaned Snodgrass with a view to a contract in the summer, then he wouldn't have played against us anyway so this is just an exercise in semantics imo. As others have said, it appears there is nothing in writing re this agreement anyway so hopefully it'll all blow over with just a quiet reprimand.

I think Sunderland had a similar type of scenario. Didn't realise he said it before ko. Still, in that case it's just him scrabbling for an excuse before the fact!

Yeah, I realised I was thinking of Sunderland playing a Korean fella for 3 games before he'd gotten international clearance. Still they only got fined for actually playing him, can't see ours or West Brom's punishment being worse for NOT playing a player.
