Why should players/Managers get time to settle?

This cliche of they need time to settle is total rubbish from a West ham perspective.
Name one player who started poorly (crowd didn't rate him) and turned it around?

We’re now paying £20mil+ and 100K/week on players - for that much money, you hit the fucking ground running.
