China can't or won't pay

Post by BillyDWhizz »

So, the Premier Leagues biggest overseas tv deal has been cancelled to the tune of £523 Million quid due to possible political rather than financial reasons. Add to that an estimated and probably a bit conservative £500+ Million loss in revenue for clubs due to Covid last season and the cash cow that is the Premier League is suddenly starting to look a bit emaciated.

I guess it's a case of watch this space as to what happens next. I don't expect the mega wealthy clubs to suffer much but the ramifications for the rest could end up being quite serious if they can't find a way to replace that lost Chinese revenue stream, which seems a bit unlikely if it does turn out that Xi Jinping has pulled the plug due to Boris's meddling in Hong Kong.
Who the fuck is General Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?

Mesut Ozil at the Arse made some comments/Tweets about China's possible proven... ;) "mistreatment" of Uighur Muslims..
China Pulled their game against Man City which due to be shown over there...

The Arse Distanced themselves from any comments he made, saying they are not the views of Arse Football Club....

And Ozil can't get a game..........................Strange that...

Remember when the ITV deal for games in the championship went tits up many years ago ? The main reason clubs then got in trouble was by borrowing money against future TV revenue and when the deal went down the flusher the lenders started tightening the screws.

Wouldn't surprise me if something similar comes along to bite a few clubs on the arse.

If the PL went bust,it could be the best thing to happen to Football.

We might get a more equal League and the FA Cup may get the respect it deserves and use to get.

Why does the F A Cup deserve "respect" ?

Before the PL.the FA Cup was the cup competition that players throughout the world wanted to win.

You grew up with it and you know Cup Final Day was the biggest sporting event of the year. The PL ruined that, because the owners decided the money mattered to them and not cup competitions.

Just makes you realize how lucky we are to have wealthy tax efficient (or something like that ) owners so it wont affect us much . Probably be able to buy Hugill back for £10 million.

The key word there Terry is WAS. Nobody gives a shit about the domestic cups these days, not even most fans in the earlier rounds if the rows of empty seats, even before the closed doors crap, are anything to go by. You can't force clubs to take the thing seriously if they don't want to.

Back in the day F A Cup final tickets were like gold dust. But nowadays you can pick the things up at face value easily. That says it all really.

Yeah you are right, but it`s only because the owners made it like that. The money from the PL was the most important thing and the Cup never had the same financial gain.
Managers were forced to play weaker teams,as it was financially better for a club to finish 2 places higher than win the cup, therefore starting playing weaker teams.Relegation was a big no no.
Think of the time we got relegated in 1978,we kept the likes of Brooking and Bonds, because it wasn`t about money. It was a sport, now football is big business.

Man U pulled out of the FA Cup in 2000,because of the money they would make in the World Club Championship.Money killed the FA Cup,NOTHING ELSE.

I think Sky played a big part in reducing the live accessibility and if you do that then general interest wanes. Prior to Sky, ITV did a very good job in cheapening the coverage and reputation with its naff TV model.

The BBC have recently tried to restore the competitions allure, but it's been long lost, trampled away by years of inferior broadcasting.
