football grounds now defunct

Post by BoleynBadges »

lets have a look at some of the good old grounds that we used to visit on our travels some great grounds now sadly lost forever i was fortunate to visit a lot of the grounds over the years when i was very lucky enough to be able to go to the games

i ended up on something like 83 league grounds i hope this thread will bring back some good memories for you all i feel sorry for the young one's that do not remember the good old day's of standing on the terraces at a good old fashioned ground

i will start with one of my personal favorites

All ways enjoyed my trips to highfield road as we normally won!
That said it was always a dodgy walk back to station.
Baseball ground though was a personal hate of mine, really crap away end.
Did anyone go to plough lane? Only went once and my stand out memory was Watching mark ward try and out jump Mitchell thomas. :D
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.

Coventry really got Shafted by a developer didn't they and the
Ricoh Arena now is home to the Insects and it looks possible Cov will loose out on that
and their training ground too next year.

Happy memories at Highfield road. We always seemed to win. One good memory was sitting behind the goal in the Coventry end with animal and a couple of the boys, we were taking the piss the whole game...miss those days.

At that Coventry game the home supporters started making monkey sounds and asking him if he was from London zoo.
He stood up and invited them to the back of the stand for a discussion kickimmuts We all stood up with him and he told us to sit down coz he could handle it. With a big grin on his face he followed some big old burly Cov supporters down the stairs and re emerged about five minutes later with an even bigger smile. Funnily enough the Cov supporters never mad back to their seats :D
