You agreed to wait 12 months to discuss this further with Terry. You lasted 5 days. Standards my dear, standards. This level of bullshittery will have you steel toe capped out of the Trolly Circle before you can say Declan Rice is class/overrated/championship quality (delete as required)
Everything I’ve read suggests that Wigan went into administration due to financial issues arising from the pandemic. But both sides of this debate seem reluctant to raise it.

Yep, originally reports was due to virus, this is why they are trying to appeal the 12pts deduction as it is unusual circumstances.
Numbnuts is conveniently ignoring this one.
It’s not what you do it is the way that you do it.

Anyone who thinks the shutdown won't have affected the cash flow of clubs is a complete fool tbh. But playing devil's advocate if your club was faced with a 12 point deduction I guess you'd use and excuse you could lay your hands on. I'd guess it's probably a case of it being the last straw but probably not the only reason. They only lost 5 home games and their average attendance is around 10,000. So at £50 a ticket, I'm being generous and added a lot in for other spending on grub and so on, that's only £2.5 million, less the VAT element they'd have to give back anyway. A long, long way from a figure needed to send a business, at least a well run one, over the edge. And if they're not a well run business-------.
I think we'll see the true story when HMRC start issuing winding up orders for non payment of VAT and such like. Charlton are likely to be the next ex PL club where the brown stuff slams into the air conditioning. That seems fairly common knowledge.

Where are all the clubs going bust?
Gone quiet about clubs going bust, hasn't it?
Clubs mug off fans again by pleading poverty.
I called it from day one.
I believe Wigan, Sheff Wed and Derby are all looking at points deductions.

Typical of the EFL's muddled approach to running the game. Wigan have been deducted points already. They intend to appeal. So if their appeal is succesful they could have the deduction reduced or cancelled completely, meaning Barnsley, and not them, will be relegated. Sheffield Wednesday & Derby both face points deductions which, as I understand it, could mean Wednesday are relegated if the points deduction was sufficiently large. Agan there is a right of appeal which would mean no one would have any idea whatsoever what was going on until the appeals process had been done and dusted.
The EFL fit for purpose ? I think not.
