Forum Decision Time

Bonjour fellow deviants.

This is basically a post to decide whether to reintroduce adverts of not.

The short story is that the forum is costing about £31 per month to host. It didn't used to cost as much but as we've gone on we've required more space to host all of the bollocks that we write.

As you will be aware I removed the old adverts a few months ago because they seemed to be interfering with the functionality of the forum. Since then I have been funding the site but it's getting a bit tight. In November the payment bounced and Geo paid for that month but it's all a bit messy. I was using some advert money from the videos to help pay the monthly subs but it's unreliable at best.


Anyway at just under £400 per year I have a decision to make

We can either reintroduce the adverts to the site and pay for it that way. I'm confident that with a software upgrade and modern adverts it won't cripple the site as before. There is a company who will run the adverts on our behalf and with a few adverts we should be able to cover the costs indefinitely.

Or we can keep the adverts off the site and have donations via a paypal link or something?

I'm happy to cover the cost of the domain name and pay for the software upgrade but the monthly outgoings are hitting the old Gonzo budget a bit.

In the interests of transparency I've put up a copy of last months invoice and anyone who I know personally is welcome to the hosting login to check the history.

Anyway, sorry to come with the begging bowl but I thought it best to explain the situation rather than just stick adverts on the site.

I don't see adds on any site so reintroduce the adds. Unless i have not understood the question

As long as the adds don't interfere too much then I guess thats the way to go and you can take us all out on the piss if theres any profit made.
Also, I don't mind chipping in if we go that route but it might be a bit disappointing paying to be called a cunt by some on here.
I don't mind the dirty language and being called names when theres a happy ending involved though.

Interestingly KUMB started moderating heavily due to adverts and Google not liking some of the content of the forum.

So long as that doesn't happen here I'd go with ads, as charging an annual fee to use will be an admin nightmare and donations would only be made by a smallish percentage
