Well not being a medical specialist I don't know if Upson's injuries were genuine or not. What I do know is that Carroll is/was a pisshead. That is not the lifestyle I would expect from someone who is, by nature of his profession, expected to keep himself in peak physical condition.
And if I remember correctly he was once arrested for beating up his wife/girlfriend which in my books makes him a cunt. A cowardly cunt at that.

I just don't get any positive views on Carroll, all this unplayable on his day bollocks makes me cringe. The only thing that made that cunt unplayable was the fact he was always fucking injured and was never on the pitch.

Well. I reckon as soon as Upson was seen to be looking for a move, lot's of conspiracies were born.
The issue I remember was prevalent when Upson was captaining the side was that as a leader he was too weak and during a particularly bad result (I think it was Wolves) where a very young James Tomkins was having a shocker, I remember him walking around with his head down as if he could not care whereas what he should have been doing was putting his arm round Tomkins and trying to help him while geeing up the rest of the team.
We lost 1-3 I think and Tomkins was hooked at half time. It was felt he chucked young James under the bus
