Re: Threatening letters in post

IS THE SAFETY CERTIFICATE GOING TO BE IMPLEMENTED WHEN EVERYONE SITS OR JUST THE HOME FANS? I'm guessing here but presumably if there is an issue with away fans standing the capacity in that area could be reduced (or closed altogether?) meaning fewer tickets for away fans. Quite how that would squa...

Re: Threatening letters in post

Don't really see what else they can do. If people persistently stand there appears to be no way the license will be increased to 60,000, never mind t0 66,000. The club, and I would guess, most of it's supporters, want to see the capacity increased and whether we like it or not it's not going to happ...

Re: We Are Starting To Become A Laughing Stock

Naming rights , for a 10 million pound deal WE ( or is that you?) would receive 3 million owner club 7 million better off , 20 million deal WE ( or is it you ?) would receive 8 million owner club 12 million better off. Catering we get nothing off the first 500k profit based on 20 games a season tha...

Re: Is everything about money?

Love him or hate him I would put Abramovich right up there in the "good owner" stakes. He has invested massively in the academy, built a state of the art training complex, and, most importantly to me, looks as if he actually enjoys watching the matches his team plays. For an avid "fa...

Re: Is everything about money?

Tell me who do you think has better owners in the PL than us apart from the 2 mentioned above? There maybe similar, but not better in my opinion? The majority are in it to make big bucks and have no interest apart from that.G & S are a bit different, not perfect, but decent IMO. Love him or hate hi...

Re: Lampard Jr

Word was at the time that a lot of the anti Lampard feeling within the club's own fan base was started by certain members of the family of Scott Canham (apparently there are clips of a fan forum where someone was giving Redknapp some clog over his preference for FLJ) who was part of the same youth i...

Re: Bank debt

I have never liked David Sullivan. However I don't see how anyone can have an issue with a business owner, who risks his own capital to buy or develop a business, making a return on that investment over time.

Re: We Are Starting To Become A Laughing Stock

This is completely correct. Very few large businesses tie up their assets in real estate if they can avoid it. We use the training ground on a more or less daily basis, so it may be cheaper to own it than lease it, but we only need a stadium accommodating tens of thousands on first team match days....

Re: We Are Starting To Become A Laughing Stock

We don't own the stadium. That is a well know fact. But what is the commercial logic of a football club owning a stadium that is only going to be used, what, 30 odd times a year? The only value in owning your ground is that the nominal value of the land plus structures is classed as an asset and can...

Re: Payet gone

Poyet his contract terminated.....strange one that...was Charlton player of the year when we bought him but has not progressed presumably. Didn't he go back to Charlton on loan? That's enough to disillusion any aspiring young footballer I reckon. Probably end up in Spain with his old man at Real Be...
